Contagion

Friday, 16th of September 2011.

A day after my absence from my morning classes in English Grammar 2 and Conversational English 3, the discussion focused on movies. I happened to mention Mom's plan to watch "Contagion". This aroused vocabulary curiosity among my foreign students. One very vocal idea: "Is that a disease that transfers from a man to a woman?" Simple explanations, as Ernest Hemingway stated are the most difficult ones to convey. One sure way of explaining contagion was the transfer of any extreme emotion or danger, illness or not, from one person to a great number of persons.

I met Mom at the Shang fountain later that day as promised, but not before dropping by National Bookstore for the day's paper and some much required book hunting for the next classes. I thank Mom for helping me out with the task of shopping wisely. I am not so keen on shopping, but talk shop where books and school supplies are concerned and I'm sold!!!

There was a queue at the Shang-Mercury, a never-ending ritual that the Mall has never solved yet because of the ongoing construction. So off we went to Shang EDSA Hotel. No queues, no guests, few taxis, but when one came along - the World taxi - going home was a breeze. If anyone would use their head or their feet, they would know where to walk home to get a ride!!!
